TELL ME MORE ABOUT THIS SALT/MINERAL THING

SALT / CHLORINE GENERATOR
SALT / MINERALS
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?

Think of how many things live in the ocean and ask yourself, "why would I want to make my pool water perfect for stuff to start growing in it?" And now you have to shower off all the salt from your skin and hair after getting out.

That's exactly the opposite of what you want to do. Common sense right?

But that is in fact what happens when you dump a quarter ton of salt in your pool just for the privileged of manufacturing your own chlorine instead of buying it pre-made from Clorox.

Mineral versions incorporate multiple types of salts to condition the pool water as well. However, the process makes the water better for you and worse for bacteria and algae.

Instead of adding 500 lbs of just one type of salt, sodium chloride; sodium tetraborate, sodium dichlor and potassium monopersulfate are also added every two weeks in small doses.

Keeping additions in small doses prevents the corrosive effects of large amounts of salt in the water.

IS THERE A DEVICE THAT PLUGS IN?

Yes.
Both chlorine and mineral salt systems have a device that "manufacture" something.
As the names suggest, they manufacture chlorine or copper minerals.
Both systems have a limited life on the part that is in contact with the water. These are the parts that do the actual "manufacturing" and they wear out with use.
Chlorine systems need replacing every 3-5 seasons. Minerals every 1-2 but they are far less expensive than the chlorine version.

ARE THEY ONE SIZE FITS ALL OR WHAT?

Both types have different versions for different size pools based on gallons.
Also, both have an output dials that produce more or less depending on how high you turn the system up.
In the case of mineral systems, there is also a difference in the amount of salts you put in every two weeks.
